Brief intro
My name is Richard Simko. I grew up in Slovakia behind the “iron curtain”. I always had passion for art and movies but at the time there was no option to pursue a reasonable career in this field. I have IT background but in 2003 I decided for a change. I moved to Australia where i got diploma in Screen and after that I started to work in graphic design and animation industry. I have never looked back since. At the moment I work as senior lighting & compositing artist in Lucasfilm Animation Singapore on animated TV show Clone Wars.
Experience
Throughout my career I worked for small as well as big international companies. I am familiar with corporate environment as well as small company and small team. To be successful in either, I had to be a team player yet I had to be independent, work without supervision and solve problems on the go to meet customer deadlines, while outputting the high quality work. In small companies I had to produce work with fast turnaround and small budget and I was responsible for almost whole project as an artist from concept to final delivery. At bigger companies I was part of pipeline where my responsibilities were limited but I had a chance to specialize and really focus on my part. I had a chance to leart from many great artists and also share my knowledge with them.
For the future my goal is to step further in my career and work on animated or life action feature. That doesn’t mean that other projects are not interesting for me. I am open for TV production and commercials and other projects too. At the moment I am at full time position in Singapore but I will be going back to Australia any time by the end of August 2011. In the spare time
Apart from computer graphic my other big passion is photography. My camera is always with me on travels and I enjoy documenting the life as I see it through my lens. You can see selection of work in photography section. other than that I like to hang out with friends, i am regular to gym and like to play volleyball.
