The Basin Campground, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park

Summer is definitely a thing of the past this year but last weekend's forecast promised a nice weather. The Basin campground in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is one of Sydney's most popular beach camping spots. The Basin is the only place you can camp in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. This large, grassy area overlooks Pittwater, offering lovely surroundings and views. This is the place we decided to do a camping weekend. Maybe the last one before work hits us with overtimes and weekend work.

I haven't heard about the place before. And yeah it is popular as I found it quite busy with campers even as the season draws to its end. I expected something little more remote and rough. But the campground caters well for families with kids, It is a very far stretch from "wild" camping. Anyway, it was only for a weekend, a one nighter.

We were about to get to the Plam Beach by car and then take a ferry. Unfortunately, a car broke down and we continued by a taxi. Add to that heavy traffic and we arrived at the campsite when the Sun already went into hiding. we got just enough light to build the tents. Thus there was no time to scout let alone take photos.  On top of all that it is a no fly zone for drones. All of my hopes of getting some nice aerial footage were crushed. As it wasn't enough I got a massive headache which lasted all night and whole Sunday too. Bummer.

I still managed to wake up early and get at least some shots. They are not great but I am sharing them anyway. Sometimes it is like that. You go out with high hopes and you barely come back with something that "looks ok".  I hope next time I come back with something better.
